Román Alberto Uez

Founding Partner

I received my law degree from the National University of Córdoba, with the equivalent of a gold medal and a place on the Law School’s honor roll.

I have been practicing law in the Federal Capital since 1994, where I began my career as a partner at the Menem & Associates law firm.

I have gained experience in various areas of regulatory administrative law, including short- and long-distance passenger transportation, insurance companies, port operations, banking, water, electricity, gas, and oil; challenging specific and general administrative acts; public bidding processes; and the preparation, submission, or challenge of such bids; and public works contracts, including price adjustments.

Through my professional practice, I gradually gained expertise in the areas of insolvency proceedings, bankruptcy, and corporate disputes, until these areas became another practice area of the firm.

En el año 1997 comencé a asesorar empresas dedicadas al cuidado del medio ambiente y me convertí en Abogado de varias compañías muy relevantes en transporte, tratamiento y disposición final. Lo aprendido en ese rubro me llevó a escribir un libro, en conjunto con mi Socio Jorge Ortiz López y la colaboración de mi hermana y colega Astrid Uez y Lisandro Dellazuana: "El seguro de caución ambiental, un nuevo instrumento para la economía verde".

Hoy cuento con una Maestría en Derecho Administrativo (Universidad Austral), una Maestría en Política, Ciencia y Tecnología (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba) y una Diplomatura de Experto en Derecho de la Inteligencia Artificial (Universidad Católica de Murcia e INEAF), que complementan mi vasta trayectoria profesional en el ámbito del Derecho.

En los últimos años llevé esa trayectoria regulatoria hacia la frontera entre el derecho, la ética computacional y la arquitectura institucional, especializándome en inteligencia artificial, marcos regulatorios emergentes y derechos digitales. Mi rol en este campo no es asesorar únicamente sobre normativa vigente, sino anticipar las consecuencias institucionales de la tecnología y ayudar a diseñar las reglas que van a ordenar los próximos años  acompañando a organizaciones públicas y privadas allí donde la velocidad del cambio tecnológico supera la capacidad histórica de adaptación jurídica.

Jorge Ortiz López

I received my degree in law and became a licensed attorney at the School of Law and Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires in 1987.

Since then, I have gained extensive experience and built a strong track record in the private sector, advising financial institutions, business chambers, insurance companies, public transportation companies, and regulated entities.

In 2000, I supplemented my degree with a Master’s in Financial Management / MBA in Financial Management from the Universidad del Salvador, an international program offered in academic partnership with the Faculty of the University at Albany, State University of New York.

In 2006, I joined the law firm Hernández y Ortiz López as a partner.

I have been a founding partner of Ratio Consultores & Abogados since 2008. 

My extensive experience in regulatory and environmental matters led me, together with my current partner, Román Alberto Uez, to write the book “Environmental Insurance: A Tool for the New Green Economy”, in collaboration with attorneys Astrid Uez and Lisandro Dellazuana.

I am a lawyer specializing in administrative law, and I have been with the law firm Ratio Consultores & Abogados since 2012. 

I specialize in Economic Regulation, Administrative Law, Environmental Law, and matters related to the insurance market.

I advise clients on regulatory and administrative law matters at both the national and provincial levels, as well as on administrative proceedings, public bidding and procurement, and administrative litigation. 

I represent companies that provide public transportation services; operate in highly regulated industries; serve as public works concessionaires; and also firms specializing in the transportation, treatment, and final disposal of hazardous and pathogenic waste.

In addition, I represent clients in merger and acquisition transactions before antitrust authorities, in investigations into anticompetitive practices and antidumping, as well as in matters related to compliance and anti-corruption regulations.

I also specialize in the insurance market, working with various insurance companies and advising them on complex matters related to claims, policy enforcement, and reinsurance. I also represent individuals in customs proceedings, including before Customs, the National Tax Court, and the federal administrative courts.

I was a contributor to the book “Environmental Insurance: A Tool for the New Green Economy,”, written by Román Alberto Uez and Jorge Ortiz López.

I am a lawyer who graduated from the University of Belgrano, with a specialization in Business and Banking Law.

I began my career in the private sector in 1999, and since then I have had the privilege of working at prestigious firms, where I have gained extensive experience in tort claims, advising insurers on recovery actions against reinsurers and third parties, contracts, and advising media outlets, advertising agencies, construction companies, and trusts, among others. I have extensive expertise in litigation, in both commercial and civil courts.

The experience I have gained at leading organizations and my ongoing professional development have enabled me to confidently handle a wide variety of legal matters and provide sound legal advice while defending my clients’ rights in every case.

Since 2013, I have been a partner at RATIO Consultores & Abogados, where I have worked in a wide range of legal areas, including banking and finance, civil and commercial contracts, consumer protection, estate planning, project financing, litigation, the insurance market, real estate and construction transactions, intellectual property, civil liability and tort law, civil law, insurance and reinsurance, and corporate law, mergers, and acquisitions.
